Joy Curtis-Olin uses components of architecture in her work as a way to explore bad form and psychological space. She examines the ways in which aesthetics and economics meet, and how this intersection shapes people’s experience of space.

Joy has been included in exhibitions at Klaus Von Nichtssagend, CRG Gallery, Lehmann Maupin, Triple Candie, ISE Cultural Foundation, Front Room and HQ, in New York, NY. In 2005 she recieved a grant from the Foundation of Contemporary Arts. Hrag Vartanian has featured her work on his blog, and her work was mentioned in the “Tensegrity and Klaus Von Nichtssagend”, by Nora Griffin, at Artcritical.com. She will have a solo exhibition at Klaus Von Nichtssagend in Brooklyn, NY in October, 2009, and will be included in the exhibition, “Eternal Return” at Nurture Art in Brooklyn, NY. Joy received her M.F.A. from Ohio University in 2002. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
