Emily Becklin was born in Minneapolis, MN and educated at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. As the Office Artist, her work explores the materials and emotional conditions native to the contemporary cubicle. Her series “In the Cube” using Post-It™ notes and napkins was exhibited at the Unitard Gallery in a joint show with Patrick Wymore called “On Company Time” in May of 2006. This work has also appeared in The Following Phrases, an artists’ book published by Persephassa Press in 2006. She handmade 81 artists’ books using text cut out from found Christmas cards and her own drawings for the show “That Show!” at Gallery Revisited in 2006. Her current series “The Twin Brothers” emerged out of her growing research into 9/11 Outsider Art, a genre she is actively working to document and publicize. Her work can be seen at www.theofficeartist.com.
